Event Description
Event hosted by Vegan Long Island.

The Sanskrit word, Kula, translates to mean, "an intentional community coming together of their own free will." It is a community of the heart. One that is built for the sole purposes of supporting and championing one another as we each make our way through often challenging life-situations, transitions, evolutions and peaceful revolutions.

The Karuna Kula is a community of, what we like to refer to as, spiritual activists. Those of us who are called to serve. Who come together with the hopes of offering aid to those who are suffering. Every one of us is infused with our own special gifts. We are unique and wonderful and all have something amazing to offer the world. Each month, we will come together in celebration of our own innate goodness while supporting and championing each other on our individual and collective paths to peace.

For anyone who might be considering coming or may not be sure what this kula really is, please know that it is a safe space to come, and for a short time, lay down your heavy load. So many of us who do so much good for others, don't necessarily do good for ourselves. We tend to have a more outwardly focused goal, which is laudable. But we must not forget that we too are worthy of good care, kindness, compassion, and love. For it is only when we feel good that we can do good. And in the words of Jack Kornfield, "If your compassion does not include yourself, it is incomplete."

It is with all of this in mind that I hope you will continue to, or finally decide, to join us as we come together as means of self-care and self-inquiry that can lead to the ultimate connection and highest good with and for all. Thich Nhat Hanh reminds us that in order to transform our consciousness and the collective consciousness of our society, we must “be in touch with what is healing, refreshing and joyful.” This is the essence and aim of our kula gatherings.

Gatherings begin with yoga and meditation, which will open us up for some honest and meaningful dialogue to follow. Come exactly as you are. And bring an open heart and mind. Suggested donation of $10, but no one will ever be turned away due to lack of funds. Contact with questions.
