Asempe Kitchen serves their delicious West African and Ethiopian fusion cuisine on Wednesdays at the Hills Market, Downton. On April 25th, the menu will be exclusively vegan:
Entrees:
Egusi (spinach with melon seeds)
Shero (chickpea stew)
Red-Red (stewed black-eyed peas)
Cabbage Medley
Sides:
Roll
Saffron Rice
Sea Salt-Fried Plantains
The pop-up shuts down when the food runs out, so come as early as you can!
Here's a little information about Asempe Kitchen:
We are a female and minority-owned West African & Ethiopian fusion catering company and pop-up, that focuses on providing vegan and vegetarian options to traditional West African and Ethiopian fare. We also use sustainable serving ware and use healthier oils and spices in our cooking. Most of our dishes contain seven natural ingredients including the spices. We prepare and serve a spicy paste that our guests can add to their meals, so that they can adjust the spice level themselves. We believe that sharing our culture through food is a way to break the ice and interact with people who may be hesitant or shy about interacting with immigrants.
