Event Description

Vegan Lakeside Sunset Picnic in Prospect Park - 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Watch day turn to night. We will be sitting directly by the lake, and will enjoy beautiful lake, park, and sunset views. And have a 100% vegan picnic!

Noteworthy Fact #1: Prospect Park is considered by many to be the jewel of all public parks in America.

Noteworthy Fact #2: Prospect Park was landscaped by the same men who created Central Park: Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux. Olmsted and Vaux themselves said they did a better job with Prospect Park than with Central Park.

***This is a "bring your own" picnic:***

1. Bring your own blanket (if you want one).

2. Bring your own food and beverage or water. All food must be vegan, even if you yourself are not 100% vegan. This is a vegan meetup group.

3. You do NOT have to bring extra food to share with others.

That said, if you want to bring extra food, feel free. For any food-sharers: please keep in mind that everyone's diet is not the same. If you do choose to take food from others, this is your own decision to make. You may not bring any alcoholic beverages (it is illegal).

We will be picnicking directly next to Prospect Park Lake, a beautiful 60-acre lake in this magnificent 585-acre masterpiece of a park.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR ALL: Even though Prospect Park is safe, when it gets dark, please be sure to stay with the large group and DO NOT wander off by yourself, just to be extra safe when the park is dark.

For those of you who have never attended one of our Meetup events: this is an incredibly friendly & welcoming group. You will meet lots of friendly and wonderful people. We invite you to join us!

Train Directions: Take the F Train to Ft. Hamilton Pkwy. Leave the station via the Greenwood Avenue exit (there will be signs in the subway pointing towards Greenwood Ave.). When you get up to the street, you'll be on the corner of Greenwood Ave. & Prospect Ave.

Directions from the train to the Park and our meeting spot: From the corner of Greenwood Ave. & Prospect Ave., walk down Greenwood Ave. three short blocks to Prospect Park. Cross the street to actual park block, and you will see a break in the fence (an official entrance to the park), at that park intersection: Greenwood Ave. & Prospect Park Southwest. We will meet at that entrance to the park, at the intersection of Greenwood Ave. & Prospect Park Southwest, from 7:00pm to 7:15pm, and then walk into the park and have our picnic by the lake.  The lake is near the park entrance.

If you are late: #1 - Try Not To Be Late. It's a little tricky to get to our picnic spot from the park entrance, but not terribly tricky. I recommend being on time, and leaving extra time for train delays etc. BUT IF YOU ARE LATE: 1. At the park entrance, walk straight into the park and onto the curvy paved path, to the traffic light. 2. At the traffic light, cross the road to the other side of the road. 3. Make a left on to the paved path on the other side of the road, and walk about a tenth of a mile, maybe the distance of two short city blocks. On your right you will see a large break in the shrubbery, and a wooden pagoda by the lake. We will have our picnic right by the wooden pagoda.

I am delighted to be hosting this beautiful summertime event. Join us for our Vegan Lakeside Prospect Park Picnic!
