Event Description
Event hosted by GreenFare Organic Cafe.

Patricia Welty is a native of the DC area who hiked over 2100 miles on the Appalachian Trail in 2016 to raise money to raise awareness of the elephant poaching crisis in Africa.  She will share her experience of the hike and the benefits of hiking as a vegan while sharing facts about elephants and raising  funds to protect them.

Patricia has worked as a counselor and attorney before starting her nonprofit, A Vegan Life.  Patricia also served as a  U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer in Lesotho, southern Africa where she had the opportunity to visit wildlife.  Her love of elephants and desire for a sustainable world was the motivation for the hike.
