Come join us as we explore the fall color and other natural beauty at the Waterloo Recreation Area, the largest park in the Lower Peninsula. There are lots of trails so we'll check the map and pick one the works for everyone. I'm thinking we'll walk/hike for an hour or two, but we can all decide that as we look at the map. I'd also love to have cider an doughnuts be a part of this event and I am currently looking in to getting a bunch of vegan doughnuts but have not confirmed this yet. More on this probably Monday. Once we work out the doughnut situation maybe someone can volunteer to bring cider. Which bring me to . . . 

. . . the cost. Normally I like to keep VegA2 events free but if I get doughnuts they won't be cheap (as doughnuts go anyway) and so I'll need to charge for anyone who wants doughnuts, but not more than I have pay for them, probably a few dollars per doughnut. *IF* I am able to score a bunch of doughnuts then maybe if someone brings cider that can cover their "doughnut fee." There is also the matter of entry to the park itself. If you have a Michigan Recreation Passport (purchased with license plate) you may enter the park for free, if not I think you need to purchase a sticker or something from the visitor center. I have the passport on my car and can take 3 or people with me. If you have the passport on your car and are willing to help with carpooling please post in the event discussion and hopefully we can get everyone a ride.

The location that shows up on Google when you click on the location above is not 100% accurate, the Discovery Center is actually a little south and west of the pin that shows up on the map, just southeast of the southern tip of Mill Lake. Here are the directions from the Waterloo Recreation Area website: Take I-94 to exit 157, Pierce Road and follow signs. Go north on Pierce Road 3 miles to Bush Road. Turn left on Bush Road and go ½ mile. Turn left onto the entrance road.

If I end up buying doughnuts for the group I'll need to have an accurate count of who is interested in having doughnuts, so please, in addition to your RSVP, also comment in the discussion section if you are in for doughnuts or not. Also please make sure your rsvp is current. 

Two last things. Even more important that paying to keep this group on Meetup, what I really need is help organizing events. If you think you might be interested in helping to plan and host events please let me know. This could be so much more than it is but I just do have the energy to do it all myself. Now on to the money part. Meetup costs about $200 a year and I have always wanted to keep it free for everyone to attend events. So far, so good, but to keep it going we need your help. If you are able, please consider making a contribution to VegAnnArbor. On the left-hand side of this page is a button labelled "Chip in" that uses WePay to process credit card transactions OR you can just look for the VegAnnArbor Jar at events and drop in a little something.
