Event Description
Meet at 5 PM, but leave at 5:20 PM. What is more spooky than hearing owls and coyotes howling at night? We'll experience the spookiness of this--animal sounds not guaranteed. :(
We are going to 2 cool Halloween sites in Griffith Park!
1. Ghost Train Ride (videos:

2. Haunted Halloween Hay Ride. http://losangeleshauntedhayride.com/index2.html. We may or may not be there before it opens at 7 PM. We're not going on it.
We will do an approximately 4 hours hike ( we'll make a stop at the Hay Ride/carnival). It is approximately 7-8 miles RT and 700 feet elevation gain hike. We are meeting at LA Live Steamers below Travel Town (it used to be a Prisoner of War Camp during WW2 http://www.beneathla.com/go.cgi?=travel1) in Griffith Park. Map for LA Live Steamers:
Don't meet at Travel Town!!
Hike isn't for beginners or people out of shape!
Costumes and candy (to share) are optional. Leader will bring Halloween candy.
Bring 2-3 liters of water, sweater (get cold at night) shoes with good traction. Rain postpones hike.
THis hike isn't recommended for beginners or easily scared. Date may change. For parking, I recommend parking at the lot across the street from the LA Live Steamers, so you can get out of there quicker after the hike.
Afterwards, we may go on the Ghost Train Ride.
