Event Description
Attention concerned citizens, animal rights activists, and those passionate about your health, the environment, and the collective health of the people of the United States of America and beyond!
We are ONE voice. United in Love and Community and Concern for the Future. On April 8, 2018, we will join together as One for a Parade and "after-party" celebration to show our friends and family in NYC and the World that we are committed to a healthy, happy, peaceful future for all.
ALL are welcome. Vegans and non-vegans alike. If you are curious about what is happening, come out and join us! We want everyone to be a part of this amazing, historic, and FUN event. This event is kid friendly and will be a lot of fun!
We will line up at 11 a.m. on Sunday, April 8th 2018 in the old meatpacking district at 9th Ave and Gansevoort Street, just two short blocks south of W. 14th Street. (The launch of the parade begins at noon sharp, but please arrive early to build the "buzz" and "attention"!)
Parade participants are encouraged to dress up in costumes and carry sign boards announcing their pride in their vegan lifestyle. The brighter, wilder, and bigger the better! We are making noise! Local restaurants, veg groups, and veg everything will be represented with banners and chants.
The parade route runs from the Old Meat District to Union Square Park (North Plaza), New York, NY, and ends at approximately 12:45 p.m. with a fun and exciting festival of music, food, speakers, and exhibitors from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The celebration includes revelers of all persuasions, with well-known vegan speakers and music by vegan artists. We will all partake in vegan food for sale, and explore a wide variety of exhibitor presentations.
At 2 p.m., a costume contest will take place.
Throughout the day, individuals will be encouraged to speak their mind at the Soapbox Testimonial Station. Other activists will beckon passersby to receive a dollar in return for watching a pro-veg video.
Visit http://www.veggieprideparade.org for information and photos of past events. (The site will be updated soon with this years speakers and program.)

ABOUT UNION SQUARE PARK
Union Square is an important and historic intersection and surrounding neighborhood in Manhattan, New York City, located where Broadway and the former Bowery Road – now Fourth Avenue – came together in the early 19th century; its name denotes that "here was the union of the two principal thoroughfares of the island" rather than celebrating either the Federal union of the United States or labor unions. The current Union Square Park is bounded by 14th Street on the south, Union Square West on the west side, 17th Street on the north, and on the east Union Square East, which links together Broadway and Park Avenue South to Fourth Avenue and the continuation of Broadway. The park is under the aegis of the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation.
The 11th annual 2018 Veggie Pride Parade NYC take place in the North Plaza of Union Park on Sunday, April 8 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. for a day of celebration and festivities.
ALL are WELCOME.
We are ONE!
